What is a stag deer?

The stag deer is a type of deer that is primarily distinguished by its antlers, which are branched and usually larger and more impressive in males than females. Males can also be identified by their more muscular bodies and larger size.

Stag deer typically live in forested areas in temperate regions of the world, from Europe and Asia to North America. They are herbivorous animals, feeding on leaves, grasses, and other vegetation.

During the breeding season, known as the "rut," male stags will compete with each other for mating rights with females. They will engage in such behaviors as roaring, posturing, and antler-locking to establish dominance.

Stag deer have traditionally been important to humans for their meat and hides, and have also appeared in art and folklore throughout history. In some cultures, the stag is considered a symbol of strength, virility, and nobility.
